The picture shows the courage in our law enforcement. It looks like a normal picture at first, but when you look closely and read the captions, you can tell much about the picture. It shows the great amount of respect officers have for each other, and how they don't see each other as co-workers, but as brothers out in the battlefield, and how they have each of there "brothers" backs. When one unfortunately passes, they are all there for each other honoring them like a brother, a hero, and a true hard working american. I chose this picture not to entertain people, or to get a couple laughs out of some people, but it was to show that things like this shouldn't just be passed on day after day, people should recognize it, and honor the people that serve and protect. I think that is why msnbc choose that picture to add into there slide show, because it is an important thing that is overlooked and people who honor our police officers, they are the patriotic americans.

Brilliant story Kaleb. It kept me in suspense all the way to the end. It is truly brilliant. The story was entertaining, yet rich in words. You should definetly publish it in the New York Times. I'm sure the United States and the rest of the world would be delighted to read your story. The guy in your story should be given a medal of honor. If there is a book that's called "how to survive a bull attack" the story should be added to the book.

Madeleine Casey’s blog is very funny. I like the first one with the Biggest Loser. It shows how people act these days. Using the names Baillee-Ann and Trixie-Lynn is really funny because everyone on the show usually has two names and are from the middle of the country. I also liked the second one because it is funny. If I was in that picture, I would be so scared. This blog is one of the funniest ones out there.

Oh my god, I can't believe I didn't think of that! This was by far the most creative post that was up on this blog, and definitely the funniest one. My Favorite picture is called Time-lapse trifecta, If you look it up on google images it is the first one. This Picture shows the beauty of our planet, and how we shouldn't take it for granted. The Northern Light are true phenomenon that happen in the atmosphere, The Milky Way is an amazing sight, and Shooting Stars are Incredible, But three in one shot that is Amazing. This Photographer did a Magnificent job catching/creating this scene, This takes true skill to capture an image like this. I just marvel at the extraordinary

My story is about A chicken crosses the road in rural Douglas County near Oakland. On a sunny day somewhere outside the simple town of Honeyville, a young boy lay in the tall pastures inside the family farm fence where the cows would nom on grass. The boy heard the high pitched sound of his mother's bell and imediately knew it was time to feed the chickens. He picked up the sack of feed and opened the fence to the pen. He gave them just enough feed for almost all of them. Almost. One chiicken was left out. Insulted, he strolled out the gate with pride seeking a new home. He traveled near and far through brutal terrain. After many days, he happened to cross a road when all of a sudden, he realized the meaning of life and why all life is where it is today. He ran back to the farm as fast as he could only to realize why he had left in the first place.

Why did the chicken cross the road? Well, that’s what were here to find out. The place: Douglas County, Oregon. The time: January 16. His motives: UNKOWN. What we do know is that the chicken is definitely and definitively crossing the road. The speed limit is only 35 mph, so maybe he chicken thought it could beat the oncoming traffic. But what if it is something more than that?

The picture that I could most identify with is the Light Rail. I can relate the trains to people because they are so close, but all going different directions. We lead our lives so closely but never meet; it’s hard to think someone in the world there is someone living our same problems, thoughts, and relations. I think we should meet as many people in life as possible and do everything possible, before it’s too late and the sun goes down, like in the picture. On these trains there has to be at least two people taking them for the same reason, and these same people will probably meet again and not know it.
Walker Hewitt

I think this is an interesting comment on the picture and I never would have thought of it that way. I agree with your statement because people should do everything they want to do before they die, I do try and meet as many people and try as many things as I can. The statement about the people taking the trains is also intriguing because people can be very anti-social even when they can have so much in common, I enjoyed reading your post and I thought you did a great job expressing your feelings

Seeing picture number 5 makes me really appreciate what I have. The fact that these children can entertain themselves with the scraps of a tent really shows what we take for granted. A majority of the kids in our generation cannot be entertained without technology. Its sad how much we depend on it so much. And I am not saying that I don't depend on it as much because I am probably one person who depends on it most. I think that if our generation could find pleasure in simple things like playing in tents we would be much more appreciative.

2/7/2012 10:49:37 am
I agree with Jaelyn, the fact that kids use things like that makes you think, I’m using a computer, I bet these kids have never seen one. In a world where technology is how we live are basic lives, and in a whole other world, where technology doesn’t exist, it makes you wonder what you could do for them. If we the Americans had a world where a cloth was a toy and technology was only for a king, then this world might not be so greedy. Seeing this picture doesn’t make me think about donating my money to these people so they have a better, it makes me think how much I need to donate.

One day, the sun went up and the family set off to a new journey. They had traveled miles on foot, to reach this breath taking place, only to find they need money to continue and further. In one year’s time the father had come to find a job at the furniture store, while the mother began a job at the local grocery. The kids, left on a street to beg for money, as their shelter was a collection of cardboard and blankets. That night, the mother came from around the corner, with the father next to her, holding bags of food, smiling and laughing; that night would be the first in week were the whole family had a real meal, instead of small scraps and portions. That night, the family sat and talked of their progress, the fact that in the next month, they would have enough money to get away from this town, and go to the capital of Germany, Brussels, to start their new life.

One day in a refugee camp the children go bored. They had been sitting around for days not knowing what to do. When suddenly one of them had an idea. “Let’s make a fort,” said one of the kids. “Yea! We can pretend it’s a castle,” said another little boy. The boys spent that morning gathering materials for their fort. It was made of big pieces of scrap material. Once the Fort was finished they chose a king. “I whoever came up with the idea should be,” said the oldest. “That’s me,” said the youngest of them all he was nearly 5. Then they split into two groups knights and the attackers. The attackers would hide and the knights would peek through looking and waiting. They boys had so much fun. They barley even thought of everything else going on. “That was the most fun day I’ve had since I showed up here,” a kid said. They played till diner and didn’t even want to stop, but their parents made them. From then on every day the boys would escape the hard life of the refugee camp into their new fantasy land where they could be happy no matter what.

I enjoyed your story as i too could imagine that scene playing out from that picture. I particularly liked when you kept enforcing that the kids were having so much fun collaborating, playing together that they just forgot about the troubles they might face later in the day. It's as if all of those kids were just living in the present moment. I think your story has realism as i bet there are many refugees who find happiness through each other and learn how to live free once more even for a while. I enjoyed your story on the refugee camp which held happy faces and time spent living in the present moment. World peace y'all

I really loved your story because it kinda shows a child's aspect of a refugee camp, and how boring life must be for them while they wait out each day. It shows us how lucky we are in that we can do what we please, without having to worry about getting shot and killed. Your story also shows a child's version of war, which I also thought was very charming the way they all worked together to create a working society, so to speak.

Your story was so cute! I love how you show how kids with so little can have so much fun. It makes you think twice when we are sitting around with computers and phones complaining that we are bored. Living the simplest life can be the most enjoyable and I think that is something we all need to learn how to do. If we could do this I think our world would be a lot less greedy and more appreciative of the little things.

The second picture of the week caught my eye immediately, Pancake ice they named it. I know when it all began; it was back over 120 years ago when everyone considered global warming to be a possibility but a possibility in the year 2120 no less. How naïve those beings were… Well, now this picture seems like a joke to me as I have already seen much of the woes global warming has to offer. If I remember correctly I was about 72 when frozen wastelands took over the circumference of my world. I was old but at the time technology was moving about as fast as it has been in a while. It all started with cloning animals, than people, and then before you know it the smart guys came up with an elixir for immortality or the ability for one to be revived or renewed time after time. Don’t get me wrong if it wasn’t for those smart guys I wouldn’t be alive. Anyway it was a horrible time to live in people freezing to death left and right, horrible leaders winning over the minds of able bodies for resources. All of this could have been avoided but the consent of my parent’s was not given to those smart guys who preached the truth to the world, warning, wanting others to know of the horrors to come. I guess smart guys are not always the most prevalent during a time of confusion as the factories continued blowing their smog, humans continued to command products at their fingertips, and my parent’s only concerned with what they could have a grasp on. Global warming was just too immense for one generation or generations of people to recognize or mend. Not even the smart guys could save us when the good days came to a close… Pancake ice is the title of a picture I now laugh at if only they could see the ice to come.

Near the Oder River near Frankfurt, on the German-Polish border, the final 3 contestants on the latest ABC television show, "Deadliest Competition" gather for their final round. They compete in time/skill for a GRAND prize of $1,000,000 !!! These contestants have gone through a lot in the previous rounds, the 3 people that made it farthest are, Jennifer Grant, Ryan Machin, and James Cooper. They will have to think light like a feather, and hop across the River on these ice pads and grab the yellow flag to stop their timer. This will be a tough round for these strong competitors, but someone will walk away with big check!! To me, this challenge seems near impossible!! "i'm nervous that these ' ice pads ' are going to cave in" Jennifer Grant exclaims. The Nervous Competitors anxiously wait for their turn to come. Ryan starts first, with a time of 5:43, Jennifer is next, she is eliminated after finishing with a time of 6:04, the final competitor, lastly James Cooper completes the obstacle with the fastest time of 5:37!!! The competitors tried their very hardest and put on an entertaining show for us! but in the end, James Cooper walked away $1,000,000 richer than before. CONGRATS!!!

A group of men were hanging out at a bar. They drank enough alcohol to be not smart in the head. They were talking about what they’re going to do since they started to get bored because of course there wasn’t any ladies at the bar. They were thinking about going to another bar. When they were walking over they saw a sign that had a bull on it. The most stupid idea came to their mind they thought that it would be the funniest thing if they found a bull and brought it to the city. They got into a car and drove a mile out of the city and found a bull. They were trying to figure out how to bring it to the city. They decided to use a claw machine pick it up and drive it to the city. They brought it to the city and the bull wasn’t very happy that it had gotten picked up by a claw. The bull was running through the town and destroyed almost everything in its path. The bull saw the men that took it away from its home and it started to charge them. The men ran and jumped on top of a car and the bull destroyed the car like him destroyed everything else. The men got there pay back and got injured and were in the hospital. The end.

i chose the picture of the bull attacking the people on top of the car. the reason i chose this picture is because there is a lot of animal abuse is this in the world. in my dialogue im going to make them say stupid things after what they did of the people that think it is funny watching the bull. i wish it would've showed the bull hurting a person now that would have been funny, well not just any random person a person making fun of the bull.
Keenan Fleming

I agree with what Ezequiel is saying because it is so true that animal cruelty is still very common such as in this picture. Sure, by looking at this picture you see no cruelty, however, these people tease and taunt these poor bulls that have done nothing wrong just for a little excitement and fun. This topic relates to “Lord of the Flies” because it shows that many people do still have savage and cruel ways. I agree that many of these cruel people almost deserve to get hurt by the bull. I don’t say this because I just want them to get hurt but because they need to learn that it is not okay to be cruel to animals and for bad actions there are always bad consequences.

I thought the 4th picture in the slide show was interesting. The picture shows an event that is really not extremely important but expresses a very big idea. The picture illistrates a bunch of men on top of a car while a bull stands in front of it.I think this picture is expressing "If you tount nature, it will fight back".What is a little ironic is that even as nature has humans in a uncomfortable situation, humans are still attached to technology. In other words even as the bull is scaring all these men, forcing them to be on top of the car, some guy has his ipod out like hes about to take a picture. As much fun as it might be to taunt the bull at first, I'm sure the men are going to want to get of that car soon and lets just say "nature will w take its course.

I chose the picture of the man in front of all the police kicking and charging at supporters outside of the presidents house. I chose this picture because it intrigued me on how forceful the police were charging at these regular people. They regular people must have been very rowdy, or the police were just very vicious. I saw later in the photo story that many regular people were shot and injured from police trying to fight off the protesters. I did think it was very interesting though how war and fights are still going on down there though. It is a scary thought.

i think ilike madeline caseys story that she made up its kinda of funny. i like the part when the girl said that she doubts that the picture is going to come out on msnbc or become huge. It is kinda of mest up that you are making fun of their weight in the begining. Leave a Reply. |
